Relax, Enjoy Good Company, Great Spaces
At Holme Station Homestead, it’s easy to overindulge. While away the
time walking with friends, up the road the Pareora Gorge is a great place
to explore, and go for a swim in a pool. Have a barbeque and a game of croquet
on the lawn, the place is yours, spread out and enjoy it. The ski fields
are close in winter, and the beach at Caroline Bay in summer is great fun.
In the evenings sit around the 16 setting table with a few bottles of wine,
or challenge some old friends at pool. You will always remember the great
times and laughter that recapture the warmth and heritage of the original
homestead. In 1920, Lord Jellicoe, the victorious Admiral of the Fleet during
World War One’s famous Battle of Jutland, stayed with his family at
Holme Station for 6 months prior to taking up his appointment as New Zealand’s
Governor-General. Fishing, shooting, picnics and walks were the order of
the day then, and nothing’s changed.
